Hello, I am Sophie
Project manager. Parent. An expat living in Utrecht, Netherlands.
Several years ago, I moved here with my family. What began as a temporary assignment gradually became a new chapter of life overseas.
How It Began
Moving to Netherlands wasn’t part of the grand plan. Like many international relocations, it started as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far more significant.
The initial months were tough — unfamiliar systems, new routines, elevated expectations. Everyday tasks seemed more complicated than they ought to be.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and a lot of learning by doing. But gradually routines took shape. We found places that worked for us, connected with other families, and began building something that felt steady.
Why I Created Spark Meadow Hub
Most online information was either corporate relocation guidance or shallow tourism content. What was missing was an honest, everyday family perspective.
This site exists to fill that gap — practical advice drawn from real life in Netherlands.
What This Site Does (And Does Not)
This site is:
- Hands-on experience from living in Netherlands
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated when something truly changes
This site isn't:
- An official tourism authority resource
- A platform for sponsored reviews
- A generic travel blog
Looking Ahead
Our stay in Netherlands goes on, and the learning process continues. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll keep recording what we uncover.
If you have questions about family life in Utrecht or anywhere in Netherlands, don't hesitate to contact me.
Best regards,
Sophie
